From September to December 1943 the SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment 24 "Danmark". saw service in Croatia. The regiment was stationed in the area around the cities Petrinja and Glina and was heavily engaged in the fightings against Tito's partisans.

During the 3 months of service in Croatia, the regiment suffered heavy losses. The 1. Bataillon alone had 41 killed, 38 wounded and 2 missing-in-action. The 2. Bataillon lost the entire 5. Kompanie during a partisan attack at the city Hrastovica in november 1943.
